Hafren Dyfrdwy to invest more than half a million pound to upgrade water pipes in Whitchurch

21st August 2025

Hafren Dyfrdwy is set to carry out a major upgrade to its water pipes in Whitchurch to secure the network for its customers.

The water company is investing £658,000 in the works, which will be taking place along the A525 between Bryn Rossett Bank and Nell Peter’s Lane.

This essential work will see the replacement of approximately 1km of ageing water pipes, which have been prone to bursts and disruption in recent years.

The scheme, set to begin on Tuesday, August 26 and is estimated to be complete by the end of November 2025.

Once finished, the new pipes will significantly improve the resilience of the local water supply, ensuring a more reliable service for customers now and into the future.

Catherine Webb, Community Communications Officer at Hafren Dyfrdwy, said: “We know how frustrating water pipe bursts can be for our customers, especially when they cause disruption to homes, businesses and travel.

“This investment is all about securing the network for the future and giving our communities the reliable service they deserve. We’re working hard to minimise disruption during the works and thank everyone for their patience while we carry out this important upgrade.”

To carry out the work safely, a rolling road closure will be in place along the A525. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted, and businesses along the route will remain open and accessible throughout the scheme.

This project is part of Hafren Dyfrdwy’s ongoing commitment to investing in infrastructure that benefits customers and supports the long-term sustainability of the region’s water network.

Hafren Dyfrdwy provides a water only service in Wrexham and parts of Denbighshire and Flintshire and both a water and wastewater service in Powys.
