About our Community Fund
In line with the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act for Wales, we want to work together to encourage healthier and more cohesive communities.
Over the last 4 years of the Community Fund we’ve awarded almost £200,000 to 27 amazing causes in our communities, through project funding or core costs support – read all about them here.
We know that times are challenging for many charities and groups, with a huge need for support with core funding. That’s why, since Autumn 2023, we’ve focused on offering support with core costs for not-for-profit organisations within the Hafren Dyfrdwy region. This funding is for groups that deliver a vital service for local residents, especially those most vulnerable, and who need support to maintain their current activities.
If you’re unsure whether your organisation is within our region, you can check your address using Water UK’s postcode checker.
From 2025, the Hafren Dyfrdwy Community Fund is increasing the support available to £60,000 a year.
Eligible charities and organisations can apply to be considered for a restricted core funding grant of £2,000-£10,000 for 1 year.
The 2025/26 Hafren Dyfrdwy Community Fund will open on 1st October 2025.
If you’d like to be contacted when applications open, please get in touch with us at communityfund@hdcymru.co.uk
Once applications are open, they will remain open until all the funding has been awarded.
What are core costs?
Core costs are essential costs your organisation has to keep running. This might include management and administration, general office costs (rent and utilities), accountancy and audit, fundraising, communications, and governance/compliance costs. You can apply to us to cover any of these costs.
Our Core Costs grants are awarded as restricted funding. They must be used to cover your organisation’s essential running expenses which you include in your application.
